A conversation with Helgi Jónsson about books, coffee and lots more.

Helgi Jónsson, originally from Iceland and now based in Copenhagen, has a background in computer science and digital management. He now works as a content creator and lives with his fiancé, Birta Hlin, who is also a content creator.

What’s something that’s got you excited lately?

I really love summer, and the first warm days in Copenhagen have got me excited for the months ahead. I’ve been craving more time outdoors, whether it’s meeting up with friends or just moving my body more. Summer isn’t always the best season for fashion, but it pushes you to get creative with lighter pieces, and it’s the perfect time to let accessories shine, which is always fun.

You grew up in Iceland — how do you think the climate and weather conditions have influenced your personal style?

Growing up in Iceland definitely influenced how I dress, mainly because the weather is all over the place. You can have sunshine, wind, and rain all in the same afternoon, so layering is very important. I’d rather be too warm than caught in the cold without an extra layer, so I naturally gravitate toward jackets, coats, and thick knits. I think that’s why I have such a soft spot for jackets and coats, over other pieces of clothing.

If you had to wear a uniform look for the next six months, what would it be?

I’m not entirely sure what my uniform will be for the next six months, but I can tell you what it’s been for the past few months. The Italian Raw Denim Jeans from Ofiles have basically been my goto since I got them back in October 2024. I’m also lucky that they fit me so well, being tall with long legs, it’s not always easy to find jeans that work. I love the look of raw denim because it’s super versatile, you can dress it up or down, and it fits pretty much any occasion. I’ve styled them in so many different ways lately that they’ve kind of become the foundation of most of my outfits without me even thinking about it.

Are there any small habits or objects in your home that help you shift into a creative mindset?

Honestly, I don’t have any specific habit or object that instantly puts me in a creative mindset, but when I think about it, making coffee at home has become something I really enjoy. I’ve been getting more into the whole process lately, finding the right beans, dialing in the grind, applying the right pressure in the portafilter, and trying to get the milk as creamy and fluffy as possible. It probably sounds a bit silly, but that routine always puts me in a good mood and helps me ease into a creative headspace.

You and Birta seem to be big readers — what are your books for the summer?

Two books I’d definitely recommend for the summer are The Silent Patient and Norwegian Wood. The Silent Patient is one of those psychological thrillers that’s hard to put down, super gripping with a great twist. And Norwegian Wood is more slow and emotional, but really beautiful and kind of stays with you. Totally different vibes, but both are solid picks.

What’s your most memorable moment as a content creator?

One of my favorite moments as a content creator, until now, was Copenhagen Fashion Week in 2024. It was the first time I really experienced it properly, going to shows, meeting people and getting a deeper look into the fashion world. I ended up connecting with a lot of cool people from different countries and some of them have actually become close friends of mine. This week gave me a bit of a push to take social media more seriously and I always look back to this time with a smile on my face.

At the same time, I’ve also been working behind the scenes with my fiancé, on her content for the past few years, and that’s been such a big part of the journey. We’ve gotten to travel a lot together, create content for both of our platforms, and share so many amazing experiences, and the fact that we get to do it side by side is something I’m endlessly grateful for.
